Kia Kaha!

On the 22nd of February, a day after my previous post, an Earthquake, or aftershock to be more exact, of magnitude 6.3 struck at the Port of Lyttleton, Christchurch.

Iconic buildings fell, homes devastated, and lives lost. The Garden City of New Zealand now lies in ruins. Given its scale and the amount reclaimed, not one person in the whole of Christchurch is not one way or another affected by the earthquake.

Yesterday, we mourned together as a city and a nation, of the devastation and lost each and everyone of us experienced. We prayed, repented and asked for forgiveness from our sins as a city. We also upheld Japan in our thoughts and prayers, sharing in our hearts the same experience of losing something or someone we hold dear.

Therefore, it is now time to move on. I am grateful, as many are, to be part of this community and its strong Cantabrian spirit, where 'the worst brought out the best in people'.

Kia Kaha! Christchurch!
