Yesterday, Mook Tzeng and I went for a day-tramp to Mt Herbert/Te Ahu Patiki, the highest point of Banks Peninsula (919m). The last time I had a decent tramp was a long time ago in February at Abel Tasman. I really missed being in the wilderness, plus a touch of nature in my hectic, and currently boring study life would no doubt breathe some fresh air as I prepare for the upcoming exams. And my mom, a wonderful gardener herself always say that being one with nature offers a great deal because we are interacting with God's living creation. I second, and definitely prefer that over the engineering books and computers. (Pictures taken by Mook Tzeng)
Certain parts of the tramp was quite strenous especially during the height gain sections, but one look back at what was behind me made the pain go away almost instantly. The Port Hills, Canterbury Plains, and a glimpse of the Southern Alps. At that moment God said to me, "Your present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in you" Romans 8:18. A glimpse of the reward of the tramp encouraged me to the summit, what more will God, who loves us so abundantly, and who is the Glory that will be revealed in us, encourage us not to give up in our circumtances? Don't give up because He is certainly worth fighting for.
The summit. Man, I love NZ!
